Calder Hart claims bias against him by Commission. Rowley claims that threat of legal action a threat to obstruct Commission’s work.
Maverick Diego Martin MP Dr Keith Rowley is once more after UDECOTT chairman Calder Hart’s head.
Rowley called for Hart to be removed as UDECOTT chairman after learning of plans by the State-owned company to take legal action against the UFF commission of Enquiry. On July 24, lawyers representing the company threatening to take action against the Commission claiming bias against Hart and warned if members of the Commission do not step down legal action would be taken against them.
Rowley, who was mainly responsible for the appointment of the Commission, said:
“A naked, blatant, unvarnished attempt to derail and obstruct a commission of enquiry empanelled for the expressed purpose of bringing the people of Trinidad and Tobago information with respect to accountability with regards to public monies being expended by UDECOTT.”
Rowley not for the first time called for Hart’s removal.
There have been damaging allegations of corruption by UDECOTT, particularly, the granting of a $300 million contract to a three week-old Malaysian company said to be owned by close relatives of Hart.
The Commission will restart on September 7.
