Mt Hope nurses on the warpath
They are fed up with low salaries and plan to take industrial action.
Mt Hope nurses plan to take decisive action at an emergency meeting on Tuesday. According to a source the nurses are fed up with promises that haven’t been kept.
The main contention is about salary increases.
The nurses are saying that they are still working on 2005 salaries.
They are also concerned about the foreign nurses who are allegedly being given exorbitant salaries, when actually local nurses are doing the real work.
According to one of the nurses, the Ministry of Health is aware of their plight but is taking them for granted.
“We have sought help from our bargaining unit and after consultations with them on Tuesday, we will decide on what course of action that would be taken,” she warned
