Silver Stars repeat

Two years in a row for the pioneer steelband as they push Phase Two into second place for the second year running.
PCS Silver Stars, the Cinderella men of pan, repeated last night successfully defending their national Panorama (large band) title with a scintillating performance.
The Tragarete Road band again backed Boogsie Sharpe’s Petrotrin Phase Two into second place before a sellout audience at the Queen’s Park Savannah. Their effort earn them a million dollars.
The judges awarded Silver Stars, one of the country’s pioneer steel bands which went into a coma for several years, 291 points and Phase Two 284 points with Neal and Massy All Stars trailing with 282 points.
Silver Stars played Battle Zone, a collaboration between its captain Edwin Pouchet and Alvin Daniell while Phase Two played Pan Army. Phase Two had led the way in the semi-finals which were held two weeks ago.
Tobago Steelband Steel Xplosion took the medium band title with Radica.
Caribbean Airlines Invaders and BP Renegades tied for fourth place with TCL Skiffle Bunch sixth, Solo Harmonites seventh, WITCO Desperadoes eighth, RBTT Redemption Sound Setters of Tobago ninth and NLCB Fonclaire in tenth plac
