Sweet Pan In The Big Yard Today
It’s Panorama Semi-Finals today in the Queen’s Park Savannah and 45 steelbands will stun the anticipated large audience with sweet, glorious pan.
Fine weather greets the start of the world’s most unique musical exposition-the National Panorama semi-finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
The sun was out in all its glory before the start of the competition, scheduled to get underway at 9.am, with some 45 bands in the small, medium and large bands categories with some 14 small bands kicking off proceedings.
In the “large bands” category, defending champions PCS Silver Stars will play in position number 13 tonight. Their tune of choice is Battle Zone composed by Edwin Pouchet, the captain, and Alvin Daniell.
Battle Zone is the tune of choice of some eight bands while Smooth Sailing, composed by calypsonian De Fosto Himself will be played by four bands. Some four bands will also play Surrender, a collaborative effort of Mark Loquan, Professor Philmore and Destra.
There will be 17 large bands competing.
