Silver Stars defend Panorama title Sunday

Will they be sweeter?

Will Despers be sweeter?

Silver Stars will take the first step in defending their National Panorama title on Sunday at the semi-finals which will be held at the Queen’s Park Savannah.

Gunning for the Tragarete Road band will be the traditional favourites, Phase 11 Pan Groove, WITCO Desperadoes, Neal and Massy All Stars, BPtt Renegades, Sagicor Exodus and a host of lesser lights.

Silver Stars are one of the country’s pioneer steelbands, having been founded over 60 years ago. They confounded the pundits by won their first major Panorama title last year playing their composition “First in Line”..

They are led by Edwin Pouchet, brother of legendary pannist Junior Pouchet.

Despers may be the centre of attraction. They are now practising directly opposite the competition venue in Queen’s Park East, having fled the Laventille Hills for security reasons.

Will a Belmont Despers be sweeter?
