NCC launches Carnival today
Stakeholders are crying about reduced funding, less prize money, adverse fallout from the Beyonce concert and so on.
The National Carnival Commission (NCC), the body responsible for organising carnival celebrations throughout Trinidad and Tobago, already apprised of all these complaints, will officially launch Carnival 2010 at the Waterfront, Port of Spain this evening.
It will be the first launch at this new venue near the Hyatt Regency Hotel with lapping waves and a sunset greeting mas’ lovers.
The launch is scheduled for 6p.m.
Hopefully, all these troubles will be forgotten with the NCC’s decreased budgetary allocation of $122 million : apparently, a large chunk of this sum will be spent on improved infrastructure.
On Saturday, there was a grand launch of regional carnivals at the Eddie Hart Ground, Tacarigua, with mas’ on the streets.
