Eating through the recession
Trinidadians and Tobagonians are eating their way through the recession. And KFC is crying all the way to the bank.
This country has an astounding 53 KFC outlets, probably making it one of the most chicken licking nations.
This tidbit was supplied by Prestige Holdings Ltd, which continues supplying Trinis with tasty but high cholesterol junk food and making a tidy profit in the process.
Prestige Holdings, which was founded by a group of Jaycees in the early 1970s, made group sales of $564 million and after tax profits of $15 million for the first nine months of its current financial year.
After tax profits represented an increase of 18 per cent and group sales 4 per cent although there was a blip in the third quarter.
Prestige Holdings group includes other junk food franchises such as Pizza Hut, Long John Silvers, TGI Fridays.
Prestige Holdings’ performance demonstrates that Trinis are merrily chomping their way through the recession.
